Meet the Staff

Fire Chief, Brandon Nicol
Brandon began his career as a volunteer with the Junction City Fire Department in 1993. He grew up in Junction City along with a large extended family. In addition to the fire department; he spent 15 years as a electrician before serving as a police officer for 9 years.  He has also served as planning commissioner for Junction City. Brandon is married with one son and resides close to the Fire Department.  Brandon was promoted to Fire Chief in January 2016 after the retirement of past Fire Chief, Carl Perry.

Captain, Brian Rowe
Brian started as a volunteer at the Cheshire Sub-Station in 1977. He earned his EMT-1 in 1978. He served as a volunteer holding the ranks of hoseman, lieutenant, and captain for 23 years and then was hired for the career FF/EMT position that became available in 2000. He has been married to his high school sweetheart since 1973 and has been living on the same land in Cheshire since 1976.
Brian also has a daughter, a son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren that live in Cheshire. The fire department has been a great part of his life over the last 39 years and an experience that nothing else could possibly match.

Captain, Jason Renken
Jason began his fire service career in Junction City, he has been an active member since he began in 2001. April 2016 Jason was hired to the full-time staff. He is currently an EMR & Fire Officer 1. Jason is married and likes to spend his time outdoors hunting and playing with his Children, 4 year old twins. Jason has a passion for vehicle extrication and the development of new firefighters.

Captain, Matthew Slocum 
Matthew has been a member of JCFD since September 2002. Matthew rose through the ranks of Entry-level FF to Fire Officer 1. Matthew comes from a family of firefighters, his mother, brother and step-dad have all been members of the department as well. July 2016, Matthew was hired as full-time staff. He is currently an EMT and has a passion for wild-land firefighting.

Administration, Erica Nicol
Erica moved to Junction City in 1995 when she began working for the City of Junction City in the Recreation Department. She was hired to work at the Junction City Fire Department in 2003 as the department’s first paid office staff. She works part-time and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
