Julene Reed is an educator with over twenty–five years of experience as a classroom teacher, technology integration specialist, and administrator. Julene is currently an independent consultant and was previously the Director of Academic Technology for St. George's Independent School in Memphis, TN. She is an Apple Distinguished Educator, Former ADE Board member, Certified Microsoft Innovative Educator Master Trainer, Certified Google Education Trainer/Innovator, Board Member of Google Geo's Teacher Advisory Board, EdTech Team Member, Senior Collaborator with Educational Collaborators, and CUE Lead Learner.
Julene has traveled globally through her work with Dr. Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots, Polar Bears International, and Apple education. As the Director of PBI’s Tundra Connections, she travels to Churchill, Canada annually to observe polar bears in the wild and conduct live educational videoconferences and webcasts with scientists. Julene also works with Suumu Secondary School and Roots & Shoots in Tanzania. Her passion to make a difference in the world through education and technology are clearly evident in her work. Julene is a member of the Advisory Councils of both Roots & Shoots and Polar Bears International. She is the director of the Tundra Connections program with Polar Bears International. Julene has participated in The Education Project in Bahrain, and she is a member of the Global Education Conference Advisory Board. Julene provided professional development training and support for Digital Promise Learning Studios throughout the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. Julene has also developed curricular content focused on global education for Apple Education and iTunesU.

Julene has advised educators, schools, districts, administrators, superintendents, board members, technology staff, and other leaders on topics revolving around the facilitation of and planning for successful technology integration. She has developed both short–term and long–term technology plans, guided the implementation of Google Apps for Education and Microsoft Education solutions, implemented and provided guidance for 1:1 initiatives involving both laptops and iPads, global education initiatives, and much more.

As an education and leadership advisor, keynote speaker, and workshop presenter, she has led professional development sessions internationally through conferences, webinars, and independent consulting work. Julene’s areas of expertise include global education, education technology skills, digital media projects, challenge based learning, 21st century skills for education, 1:1 computing including laptop initiatives, mobile learning devices in education (i.e., iPods and iPads), innovation and maker spaces, technology planning, interdisciplinary education, distance learning, blended learning, web 2.0 tools, Common Core and technology integration (specifically with iPads), digital textbooks, and more.
