The purpose of the International Association of Rehabilitation Nutrition (IARN) is to contribute to the clinical, research, and education of rehabilitation nutrition overseas by conducting international rehabilitation nutrition projects. The IARN holds the congress of the IARN once a year. The first congress of the IARN will be held on December 12-13, 2020 at Koriyama, Fukushima prefecture.
Admission to the IARN is different for Japanese and non-Japanese.
Members of the IARN must join the Facebook group of the IARN.

Introduction of the Japanese Association of Rehabilitation Nutrition (JARN)
We established the Japanese Association of Rehabilitation Nutrition (JARN) in 2011. The number of full membership A (paid member) in November 2019 had increased to about 800 people and included registered dietitians, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, medical doctors, nurses, etc.
Rehabilitation nutrition is defined as that 1) evaluates holistically by the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health, and the presence and causes of nutritional disorders, sarcopenia and excess or deficiency of nutrient intake, 2) conducts rehabilitation nutrition diagnosis and rehabilitation nutrition goal setting, and 3) elicits the highest body functions, activities, participations, and QOL by improving nutritional status, sarcopenia, and frailty using “nutrition care management in consideration of rehabilitation” and “rehabilitation in consideration of nutrition” in people with a disability and frail older people.
High quality rehabilitation nutrition can be implemented by using the rehabilitation nutrition care process. Rehabilitation nutrition care process includes 5 steps such as rehabilitation nutrition assessment and diagnostic reasoning, rehabilitation nutrition diagnosis, rehabilitation nutrition goal setting, rehabilitation nutrition intervention, and rehabilitation nutrition monitoring.
The JARN holds the congress of the JARN once a year from 2011. In 2019, 1240 people attended the 9th Congress of the JARN held in Fukuoka.
The JARN establishes the International Committee based on Article 13 of the Bylaws of the Articles of the JARN. The International Committee of the JARN operates the International Association of Rehabilitation Nutrition (IARN) and holds the congress of the IARN. The first congress of the IARN and the 10th congress of the JARN will be held on December 12-13, 2020 at Koriyama, Fukushima prefecture.

Japanese Association of Rehabilitation Nutrition
the International Committee Rules
(Name)
Article 1
The Japanese Association of Rehabilitation Nutrition establishes the International Committee based on Article 13 of the Bylaws of the Articles of the Japanese Association of Rehabilitation Nutrition.
(Purpose)
Article 2
The purpose of the International Committee is to contribute to the clinical, research, and education of rehabilitation nutrition overseas by conducting international rehabilitation nutrition projects.
(Activity)
Article 3
The International Committee carries out the following activities to achieve the objectives of the previous article.
(1) Duties related to the operation of the International Association of Rehabilitation Nutrition (IARN)
(2) Duties related to the holding of academic meetings of the International Society of Rehabilitation Nutrition
(3) Duties related to the publication of the international journal on rehabilitation nutrition
(4) In addition, the international duties recognized that the International Committee is necessary
(Constitution)
Article 4
The International Committee is composed of members including one chairperson. When selecting committee members, the International Committee chairperson recommends it to the board and obtains approval. In principle, the International Committee members have a term of two years. However, reappointment will not be prevented. In case of a vacancy on the International Committee, this will be supplemented and the term will be the remaining term of the predecessor.
(Meeting)
Article 5
(1) The chairperson shall convene the International Committee once a year, serve as its chairperson, and generalize the affairs of the International Committee.
(2) The International Committee shall be formed with the attendance of more than half of the members (including attendance by proxy) and will decide the agenda with the majority of attendance members.
(3) Regardless of the matters in (1), if the chairperson determines that there is an urgent need for a resolution, carry-over meeting can be held. In this case, it will be established if more than half of the members make intentions using electromagnetic records, and the agenda will be decided by the majority of the members who made intentions.
(Changes in rules)
Article 6
Any revision or abolition of these rules must be reported to the general meeting of employees after resolution by the board of directors.
Article 7
In addition to those stipulated in these regulations, the chairperson consults with the International Committee members and determine the matters necessary for the International Committee management with the approval of the board of directors.

Article 8
Healthcare professionals and researchers who are interested in rehabilitation nutrition can apply for membership in the International Association of Rehabilitation Nutrition. However, you must join the Facebook group of the International Association of Rehabilitation Nutrition.

Article 9
Admission fee and annual fee are free.
(Withdrawal from the International Association of Rehabilitation Nutrition)
Article 10
When members want to leave, they must leave the Facebook group of the International Association of Rehabilitation Nutrition.

Article 11
(1) The members of the International Committee concurrently serve as officers of the International Association of Rehabilitation Nutrition.
(2) The chairperson of the International Committee concurrently serves as the chairperson of the International Association of Rehabilitation Nutrition.
Supplementary provisions
The rule takes effect on November 22, 2019.
