Credit Rehabilitation

Credit Rehabilitation

An individual who files for bankruptcy protection can rehabilitate their credit by (1) saving as much money as possible after the filing and (2) getting a securitized credit card, charging and paying the monies due on that card and then requesting that the credit card company increase the credit limit on that card. These actions show the credit card company and other creditors that the individual has become a responsible user of credit. It has been my clients' experience that they can rehabilitate their credit in eighteen months to three years.
