The JQS Music Program is comprised of two full-time music teachers, Mr. Man and Ms. McDonaldin addition to a series of partnerships with Boston-based non-profit organizations and institutions.   All together, a diverse range of music education is offered to all JQS students.

 Following are some of the music and instruments available to JQS students through community partnerships:

The Josiah Quincy School Orchestra Program (JQOP) began with 25 3rd-5th graders in 2011, and now includes over 100 students from grades K-5.  Over the next few years, the program will expand to include upper grades, so that every student at JQS has access to participation in one of several different orchestras which will be studying and performing throughout the Josiah Quincy Elementary, Middle and Upper schools. 
The Community Music Center of Boston, which is building a school band of 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. 

B.U. (Boston University) Making Music Program offers instrumental and vocal lessons to 5th graders after school.

Opera classes for 3rd graders and opera club for 5th graders provided by Boston Lyric Opera and the New England Conservatory touring Children's Opera! 

Urban Voices offers 1st and 2nd grade students 35-minute weekly choral lessons taught by Metropolitan Opera Guild trained choral artist, Mariel Dionne Manchester (Ms. M.).
