Summary

Biography: Juan Pablo Duarte Sepúlveda was born in Santiago, Chile, in 1987. He received his B.Sc.(2010) and M.Sc.(2012) degrees from the Department of Electrical EngineeringKorea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Daejeon, Korea. He had a position as a lecturer at Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria, Valparaiso, Chile, in 2012, both in the Department of Electronic Engineering and the Department of Physics. He is currently working toward his PhD. degree in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley. He has received the Best Student Paper Award at the 2013 International Conference on Simulation of Semiconductor Processes and Devices (SISPAD) for the paper “Unified FinFET Compact Model: Modelling Trapezoidal Triple-Gate FinFETs.”

Expertise: Nanoscale semiconductor device modeling and characterization. Semiconductor device design, focusing in the structure and physics of transistors. Device-Circuit interaction. Device compact model and circuit simulator iteration. Biosensor design.

Goals: Unification of Mug-FET models of different geometrical structures into a single model formulation. Formulation of new compact models aiming for fast and accurate device data fitting. Development of compact models for variability evaluation of device processes and circuit performance.

Specialties: Compact Modeling, FinFETs, Mug-FETs, Biosensors, Circuit Simulators (SPICE Simulators) development, TCAD simulations, Compact Model Parameter Extraction, Device Performance, and VLSI Devices and Systems.
