Summer in Seattle brings spectacularly sunny days and stunning views of the lakes, ocean and mountains making this a very beautiful time of year.

Most young students on a break from school use the time to relax and unwind but some also use that time to showcase their achievements in other fields. One such field is the East Indian classical dance form named Bharatanatyam.

Many students of this art form use the summer time for their debut solo performance, the arangetram. An enthusiastic dance student who performed her arangetram on July 9th 2011 was Meera Srinivasan. Trained impeccably by Joyce Paul Poursabahian, the artistic director of ARPAN, Meera’s performance after a training period of 7 years was a sheer delight. Along with her Guru, she was ably supported in her effort by senior musicians from KALAKSHETRA, a renowned dance institution in India.
