A propósito Lourdes Carmelo
I collect bits and pieces on my travels, my walks, my daily life. I keep them and hope one day to find
time to give them back their importance, recall the value of their past and hear again their story.
Time can blur memories and in an effort not to forget, I patch together the past bit by bit ,
until finally a new object appears linking the past and the present, and even the future.
The Intimate past becomes the intimate present.
Sometimes it’s hard to remember but it’s always easy to invent the forgotten.

With subtle plays of de-codification, Lourdes Carmelo protects her privacy in selective fashion.
Not everyone has access to it. Colourist, vibrant and harmonious, her necklaces and brooches
are made of fragments from one and the same object. An object which has a lot to do with her
own personal history. Which object? The answer is only within reach of those people who know
and share its code: her intimates.
