Welcome! I'm Joseph Yingnan Zhou, assistant professor of political science at the University of Texas at El Paso.

I am a comparativist who studies China. I'm intrigued by the Chinese people's enormous approval of their government. Is it real? Where is it from? How does it interact with governance and policies? And what lights do they shed on the established theories in comparative politics? I study these questions using methods such as multilevel modeling, causal inference, lab and field experiments, and big data collection. You are welcome to visit the research section for my publications and ongoing works.

I love teaching! It satisfies my desire to share knowledge with others. And it's a craftsmanship that allows me to challenge myself and see myself grow. To me, the sweetest sounds are my kids' babble and my students' "Aha."
