The wake for Joe was held at the East Street Masons Arms. A Pub that Joe knew well and where the landlady after realising that the wake was for him offered the food spread for free.
Rihanna organised the event and everybody liked it.
The pub itself is an historical building in the heart of our neighbourhood.
most of the people that attended the funeral also came to the wake. It was a sad but heartening occasion.
The publican offered a beautiful spread and everybody was touched by so much affection that Joe elicited even by those that we thought were not his closed companions.
Many cheers and toast were raised as one may have expected:
and anyone had a good, healing time.
O particular success was the external benches that due to the good weather where crowded.
The communal sense was also an instinctive attractive consolation for many.
A good occasion to share mementos and recollect.
I mostly remember the camaraderie and the feeling of not be alone. Here I am with Piers and Ivan (that took most of the photos for the occasion (and a movie I never manage to obtain !!)
