Solving One Way Audio Issues

trixbox® Maintenance Guides

If you are experiencing one way audio, you have not set up the sip_nat.conf file. It needs to be set up as follows:

edit /etc/asterisk/sip_nat.conf

For those using a static internet IP Address, insert the following into the sip_nat.conf file:
nat=yes
externip=your internet IP Address here
localnet=192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0

You must replace 192.168.0 with the first three parts of your network IP Address

For those using a dynamic internet IP Address, you need to configure dynamic DNS on your network. You can simply set up a host on http://www.dyndns.org. Once set up, you can configure your sip_nat.conf file as follows:
nat=yes
externhost=
your dyndns hostname here
localnet=192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0

You must replace 192.168.0 with the first three parts of your network IP Address

After configuring your sip_nat.conf file, you need to restart Asterisk using the command: amportal restart
