REUNION NEWS

In 1976 the remaining eight children of Engebret & Elise Jorgenson gathered the clan together on the family farm in southwest Minnesota. That marked the beginning of what has become a bi-annual “happening”.

Good Earth Village is located 6 miles east of Spring Valley, MN on County Road 8.
Once in Spring Valley: Turn left onto Farmer St. just past the Good Earth Village road sign. Follow Farmer St. out of town (it becomes Cty. Rd. 8) for about six miles. The Good Earth Village entrance is on the right hand side of the road.

To all the Jorgenson Clan,

Hope all of you had a great holiday season.

We are getting so excited for the reunion this year, so many fun things to do, to see, and catch up on what everyone has been up to for the last 2 years.  

For those of you who did not come last reunion, you will love this site.  We had it to ourselves last year and I think we will have again, by ourselves.  Beautiful grounds, jungle gym for the small kids, fire pits and a pavilion with tables. A lot of trees for shade,   spacious meeting room in case it rains. 

I will be having attachments with this email, so please check out everything.

Date:  June 21st, 22nd, 23rd 2013.

The main meeting area is the Log lodge.  It is 

Wheel chair assessable, refridg, dishwasher, coffee maker. A lot of seating and tables, along with a huge fireplace, and a piano for our use.  Has 2 handicap rooms main floor and down stairs is the other sleeping rooms.  As with last reunion we want people to bring treats to share if you are able.

For on site lodging there are:

  • The Log lodge, per room $180.00 for the weekend.
  • Rooms 1 to 6 (4 person per room): 2 singles beds, 1 bunk bed.
  • Room 7 ( 6 person per room): 2 single beds, 2 bunk beds. 
  • Room 8/9(handicap rooms main floor,4 per room): 1 double bed, and 1 bunk bed

Towels and linens and blankets are supplied.  Has full bathroom in each.

 

“A” FRAME AND BUNK HOUSES:

Per cabin cost are $60.00 for the weekend.  This can be very inexpensive if you room with a lot of people.

Or a whole family can stayed in one of the cabins.

No air conditioning in them.  They do have very good air circulation in them and fans were supplied last time.

Must bring your own bedding and towels.

Very clean bathrooms and showers in separate building right next door.

Tenting and RV’s (front of the log lodge) 

Cost for each camp site is $30.00 for the weekend. There are three electrical hook ups, no water hook up.   There are very nice bathroom and showers inside the log lodge for campers to use.

Rates: $173.60 Friday/Saturday  this includes tax.

20 rooms blocked under “Jorgenson reunion”

Rachel has 20 rooms blocked.  Each room has 2 beds. Most of the rooms are on the main level, a few on the 2nd floor. Please make your reservation by may 15th.  If the rooms are not filled they will be released.

There are hotels and motels by the Rochester airport, also. There are about 45 min’s away from Spring Valley.

Rochester has a small airport people could fly into if they need to or the Mpls/St. Paul airport.

Now getting to the one of the most important areas:

FOOD!

The building that we have our meals is a short walk from the log lodge.  For the people who did not come last reunion you will be very  please to hear the food was fantastic!  Everyone was impressed and got their fill of wonderful food.  

Again if you have dietary needs let Rachel and I know ASAP.  We will work on this before you come.

The food rates this reunion are:

  • Adults for the weekend is  $26.00
  • Children 6 to 12 for the weekend is $13.00
  • Children 5 and under free

 

What we need from you:

We are needing the money for the food from everyone. Who ever is staying at the on site lodging, we are also needing that money as well.  

When: May 1st.  

Make the checks out to :“Jillian Kjer”, please put on the memo line  “Jorgenson reunion”.

Please give the name and ages of who is attending.

Let us know if you want one of the rooms the log lodges or camping or bunk houses.

Please remember first come first serve for reserving the log lodge rooms and cabins and camp sites.

All receipts for expenses will need to be turned into Jillian and myself no later that Friday night!

There will be some small expenses to be added to the above amounts such as calendars,  games supplies, speaker system, pop…..

Jillian and I will let everyone know what is due in the afternoon of Saturday.   So please bring cash or check  for the remainder balance.  So there will not be any lag time on Sunday.

JORGENSON REUNION OUTLINE FOR THE WEEKEND 

Friday:  people can start showing up at 4 pm.  People can get in their room at the log  lodge, and in the bunk houses, and the camp sites also.  Everyone is on their own for your food Friday night.

The horseshoes pits will be prepared for Saturday.

 

We will have a small get together and one group game, disperse and or get around the fire pit area for the evening.

 

ANYONE WITH DIETARY NEEDS EMAIL ME OR RACHEL ASAP.

Saturday:   

Breakfast: is at 830am till 930am.

Parade:  The new and improved parade will be organized by Kristie Jorgenson, our official parade Marshall. 

Pictures:   We will be starting with the family's that are most complete. 

Horseshoe contest, golf, lutefisk search, cribbage and kids crafts:    The horseshoe contest will be modified so we can all more group games and activities.


Lunch: noon to 1pm

We will finish the Horseshoe contest and other games.

2 or 3 Group games: This year David and Nic Jorgenson will be in charge of the group games.

All during the day we need to pick up after ourselves, please.

 

Dinner:  530pm to 630pm
