Jorge Juan Gil

Dr. Jorge Juan Gil received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Navarra, Spain, in 1997 and 2003 respectively. His Ph.D. dissertation deals with the control and stability analysis of haptic interfaces. In 2006 he was a visiting researcher at DLR Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics, Germany. He is a full professor (catedrático) of Control Engineering and Robotics at Tecnun (School of Engineering, University of Navarra), and a collaborating researcher at Ceit-BRTA. From November 2012 to January 2016 he led the Experimental Dynamics and Design Unit of the Applied Mechanics Department. Since September 2016 he is Deputy Director of Students. His main research interest is robot control and haptic interfaces. In particular, he has experience in developing algorithms for haptic rendering, analyzing the factors that affect the stability of the haptic interaction, and characterizing the physical parameters of robot joints.
