Dr. Calvo is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Ave Maria University specializing in geometric topology and knot theory.  He is originally from San José, Costa Rica, and grew up outside of Boston.  He holds the degree of S.B. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and both M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of California at Santa Barbara.  He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi and a fellow of the Mathematical Association of America's Project NExT.  He is the department chairman and is teaching two classes during the Fall Semester of 2014.
