Remedial Works to English Oak

This large mature oak tree (Quercus robur) was showing signs of fungal decay in and around the base and buttress roots (in this case the decay was caused by Collybia fusipes).

Works carried out included the removal of deadwood but more importantly we removed approximately 20% of the large scaffold limbs, reducing the weight of the tree and the effects of wind loading. These works improved the structural stability of the oak and therefore increased its useful life expectancy.
