ug 2011: Ive applied to take part in the York Open Studio event for 2012. It was one of my ambitions when I started to be selected, but Ive never seen a wood turner in the lineup.

August 2011: I've just found out that I have been selected to appear in a book called Handmade in Britain which is going to feature the work of about 90 artists and makers from across Britain. The book is going to be published and launched to coincide with the Handmade in Britain event in London.

Sept 2011: Im in! Im going to be taking part in the Open Studio event in March 2012. Great news, now just have to make sure that I have some good work to show.

Sept 2011: Ive submitted several photographs for the the Handmade book and been interviewed for my mini biography.
Sept 2011: Ive just received proofs of my pages.......looking OK, I think

Sept 2011: Im also going to be sending one of my pieces down to the show that will take place for the book launch. Im going to send #114, I think thats representative of my current work.

Oct 2011: The book launch has been rescheduled for some reason and is now going to happen on 27th October. The website of the book publisher is at www.vivays-publishing.com/handmade_in_britain.htm and the ISBN number of the book isĀ 978-1-908126-38-2 ...available from all good book shops...probably.

Jan 2012: New website for York Open Studios at www.yorkopenstudios.co.uk

Mar 2012: York Open Studios 23rd-25th and 31st to 1st. Photos of displays and a tidy workshop are here

Apr 2012: Well, what a fantastic experience that has been. In total over the two weekends of York Open Studios we probably had approx. 200 visitors, nowhere near as many as some of the venues in town, but quite enough to manage and not too many that we were ever overwhelmed. Many. Visitors had come quite a distance specifically to see my work, several were woodturners, and the feedback was amazing and so were sales. One person bought 5 pieces and another bought 4, and I didnt have enough work left to have managed a third weekend. I also took several commisons. It has been a real boost to my motivation.

Aug 2012: Im very pleased that my work is going to be available at the Art and Rose Gallery in Pocklington, East Yorkshire...if youre in the area check it out. Im also in discussion with a galery in Grantham, Lincolnshire with a strong possibility that I will appear in an exhibition of British Art and Craft there starting in September. I am also preparing my submision for entry into next years York Open Studio.
