Ultrasonic motors

In the summer of 2006 I conducted research internationally at the University of Stuttgart in the IKFF, concerning with friction-driven piezoelectric motors. Working directly with a graduate student, I designed, built, and demonstrated a simple ultrasonic motor and performed critical FEA on another design. Additionally, I implemented a feedback control system from scratch to test the motors on a generalized platform. This experience was invaluable in broadening my perspective of how research is conducted in foreign countries and learning specifics of how to design and implement ultrasonic motors.
