Are you interested in natural resources and the environment? The conservation district needs your help and you can make a difference! Volunteering can give you a chance to improve your computer & office skills, conservation knowledge, and learn new technology such as GIS and GPS. For high school students interested in the conservation field, you can gain experience that will look great on your resume. We welcome retired persons, homemakers and others. We can match a person's interests and abilities with the work we have available. There are a variety of projects such as field design and layout, educational projects in the community, public relations, and a host of clerical opportunities. To be a volunteer you must be 14 years of age. If interested, please contact our office, click here!

Are you a woman who is passionate about the land? The Jones SWCD is looking for an outgoing volunteer who would be interested in becoming the leader/chair for Women Land & Legacy. Jones County is one of several counties throughout the state that is participating in the USDA State Outreach Council project. The goal of Women Land & Legacy is to develop a grassroots approach based on women landowners' interests and concerns. We are looking for someone with good computer skills to maintain a database, organize events and lead the group toward their goals. If you are interested in a grassroots project, please call the office and ask for Sonya to get additional details on this exciting project!
