The 2010s were filled with incredible achievements on film, capped off by the amazing “Parasite,” which was the first foreign-language film ever to win the Oscar for Best Picture. This blog will highlight the top films of the past decade.

Kimi No Na Wa (Your Name): Japanese animator Makoto Shinkai’s most popular and arguably greatest work is pure magic. This immaculate animated feature has it all – science fiction, fantasy, time travel, tragedy, suspense, and the unforgettable pain of first love. “Kimi No Na Wa” is hands down the decade’s most beautiful movie. Mad Max: Fury Road: George Miller’s returned to the Mad Max franchise with a vengeance. This fast-paced post-apocalyptic action thriller doubles down on everything that made the Mad Max franchise a global phenomenon, and then some. Joe Cianciotto.

Inception: Christopher Nolan is a director not to be taken lightly. His take on the Dark Knight legend was nothing short of sublime, but it was this sci-fi adventure deep into human consciousness that really owned the decade. Joe Cianciotto.

Parasite: Without a doubt, the greatest film of 2019 and perhaps the decade, “Parasite” hits all the right notes at the right time with the right cinematic treatment. It touches on several social issues and film genres, and never, for instance, devolves into a mess. Instead, and quite impossibly, the film becomes even more tightly wound and manages to surprise us all. Joe Cianciotto
