I’m Joe Cianciotto, and I love movies. For this blog, I want to pay tribute to one of my favorite thrillers of all time, Jonathan Demme’s "The Silence of the Lambs." If you haven’t seen it, and you love suspense thrillers, let me tell you, it doesn’t get any better than "The Silence of the Lambs." Achieving a rare Oscar grand slam by winning the four major awards – Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, and Best Picture, the film was simply perfection. Even by today’s standards, "The Silence of the Lambs" stands out as one of the best Hollywood has ever made.

Based on Thomas Harris’ novel of the same name, the film introduces a young up-and-coming FBI agent by the name of Clarice Starling, played with intense grace by Jodie Foster. Starling is tasked to track down a serial killer who goes by the name of Buffalo Bill after the latter kidnaps a senator’s daughter. Starling’s boss, Jack Crawford, instructs her to question disgraced and incarcerated forensic psychiatrist (and serial killer as well) Hannibal “The Cannibal” Lecter, played by the great Anthony Hopkins.

From Demme’s direction to the flawless performances of the leads to the gripping narrative, "The Silence of the Lambs" will grip you right at the start and won’t relinquish its hold even after the end credits roll out. That’s a Joe Cianciotto guarantee.
