The classic gems of the sports movie genre

Everyone loves a good sports movie. Hollywood sports movies have, far and away, been the most inspiring bunch of films in the past 50 years. Today’s blog lists some of the most memorable sports movies in the past five decades. Joe Cianciotto.

5. Remember the Titans (2000) This modern classic is loosely based on the life of African-American coach Herman Boone as he tackles integration and race issues while coaching high school football. 4. 2. Rudy (1993)

As far as inspirational sports films go, it’s pretty hard to top the classic that was “Rudy.” Loosely based on the life of Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger, a young man who had dreams and never did give up on them, “Rudy” will send your heart soaring each time you view it.

1. Rocky (1976)

Always on top of so many Best Sports Movie lists, “Rocky” is the granddaddy of all underdog stories. Its lesson, that people have to make the most out of every opportunity they’re given, still resonates as strongly now as it did back then. Joe Cianciotto.
