Up

Whenever you set your mind on watching an animated film about a boy’s whimsical adventures, you tend to set yourself up with a wholesome mood. The movie Up starts off with a death scene of a beloved, which explains the utter snarkiness and stiff temperament of the main character Carl, who redefines his life towards the end of the story. The first ten minutes of the film details a moving flashback, and it has left so many people in tears quite early into the movie. Joe Cianciotto.

A Walk to Remember Death is always a sad thing, especially if it comes at the heels of true love. Before you write off this film as another predictable waste of time, consider first why it ranks high up in the list Hollywood’s biggest tearjerkers. With so many movies about death, why does this own a top spot? A Walk to Remember is a film about miracles and beating the odds. This also happens to be Mandy Moore’s breakthrough in the film scene, with her leaving her mark as one of the most promising young actresses of the time. Joe Cianciotto. Titanic This film is arguably what has propelled Leonardo Dicaprio to the current superstardom that he enjoys today. Titanic is an actual romanticization of the events that transpired during the sinking of the true to life boat in 1912. While we appreciate this development mostly for its history, the film adaptation made masterful use of fiction to capture the actual human elements of one of world’s biggest tragedies. It’s not only the love story of Jack and Rose which has left audiences in tears. It’s everyone else whose lives went into a sudden stop because of one unfortunate incident. Joe Cianciotto.
