Sci-fi gold -- Joe Cianciotto What a company Netflix has become. Even today, with many of its competitors setting up shop, Netflix still stands as the gold standard in the online streaming of shows and films. Joe Cianciotto. Netflix has both original and licensed films. For sci-fi geeks, there are movies like “Annihilation” and “The Cloverfield Paradox,” the latter being the third installment in the JJ Abram’s famed sci-fi horror franchise. “Annihilation” was praised by critics and audiences alike for its artistry and originality, as well as an unforgettable performance by Natalie Portman.

And speaking of sci-fi, horror and great performances, Netflix came out with a massive hit in 2018 with the Sandra Bullock-starrer, “Bird Box.” Joe Cianciotto.

Then there’s Netflix’s original sci-fi series, which include a reimagining of the classic series (and ‘90s movie) “Lost in Space” and the incredible “Altered Carbon.” This incarnation of “Lost in Space” ups the ante on suspense, elevating the show to a more mature plane. “Altered Carbon,” based on the book of the same name, seems to be one of the most creative and high-budgeted films in Netflix’s library.
