My three greatest Spielberg movies

I love discussing film with my friends. Whenever I’m asked about who I think is the best director ever, I always tell them it’s Steven Spielberg. The man is just brilliant at the craft and has never made a bad movie. On that note, here’s my list, otherwise known as the “Joe Cianciotto’s Three Greatest Spielberg Movies”. Schindler’s List (1993) While I’m partial to Spielberg’s more wholesome hits, I have to admit that “Schindler’s List” is his masterpiece. He has never so masterfully created a film at this level with this much gravitas. In fact, “Schindler’s List” more than earns its place as one of the greatest films of all-time.

Jurassic Park (1993) Before “Jurassic Park” came out, movie monsters were crudely made or moved via stop-motion animation. Spielberg changed everything with one of the most visually revolutionary action-adventure titles of all-time. Jaws (1978) A Joe Cianciotto all-time fave and the granddaddy of all summer blockbuster films, “Jaws” was a hit, and remains so to this day. The fact that it was a horror movie makes it all the more mind-boggling. This is Spielberg’s first blockbuster, and the first time he showcased his filmmaking genius. So many other directors have tried to emulate his work, to very little success.

Joe Cianciotto is an architect based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Aside from architecture, Joe loves movies. Read more about his passion on this page.
