It should come as no surprise to many film buffs that some of the most popular films are poorly written, and some of the hidden gems have exquisite writing. In today’s blog, we’ll take a look at three movies that have not been box-office smashes, but deserve the praise nonetheless for their writing. Joe Cianciotto.

Reprise (2006) Reprise is a touching tale of two friends who are struggling writers. Philip (Anders Danielsen Lie) get his book published, while Erik (Espen Klouman Høiner) experiences a lot less luck. However, Philip doesn’t handle his new-found fame all too well and has a nervous breakdown. Erik decides to watch over Philip through this time. Joe Cianciotto.

Midnight In Paris (2011) Gil Pender (Owen Wilson) is a screenwriter who is trying to write his debut novel. He goes on vacation in Paris and enters a whimsical dream-like sequence that is very much akin to a time warp. He is transported back to the 1920s, and he meets some of the most legendary writers and artists, including F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, and Salvador Dali. Joe Cianciotto. Almost Famous (2000) When aspiring and underage music journalist William Miller (Patrick Fugit) is sent to write for Rolling Stone magazine under false pretenses, he finds himself tagging along on tour with a rock band. He quickly realizes that not everything in music is fame and glitter, and learns that heartbreak is an essential part of many of the things he’s dreamed of. Joe Cianciotto.
