Testimony from Joe Hopkins

I was born on January 20, 1978 to a Christian family in Baltimore, Maryland.  I accepted Christ as my Savior at age four on November 24, 1982.  I was raised in a Baptist church, went to a Lutheran school through seventh grade.  When I was fourteen my parents moved us to West Virginia.  Over the next four years of high school I continued to go to church, but became more and more interested in rock n' roll music and drug use.  I found myself further and further from God, or so I thought.  On January 7, 2000 I got married to a woman who was unsaved and attending a Jehovah's Witness church.  After five years of marriage she left me and we got divorced.  I struggled very hard to get my marriage back together.  In this I managed to succeed.  Over the next several years I found myself reaching out for God again.  During this period of time my wife left the Jehovah's Witness church and also started looking for Biblical truth.  On December 21, 2008 my wife received Jesus Christ as her Savior.  Looking back I realize that if I hadn't been as back-slidden as I was as a teenager, Rosa would not have been interested in me and I probably would not have been interested in her.  It is always best to follow closely with God, but I've found that if you are a Christian, regardless of how far you think you've walked from God, He can and will use you for His purposes.  My mistakes eventually helped lead my wife to Christ.  Although my life would have been easier, had I not gone the way I did, God still used it for His glory.
