JMU Knights of Columbus Council 9286
Welcome to the Knights of Columbus at James Madison University, Council #9286. As college men, we have a great challenge to live our faith in an environment that is often counter intuitive for Catholics. But, through our brotherhood, we band together and proclaim our faith. As a council, established in 1986 and reformed three years ago, we have become the most dynamic in the region. By joining, you are more than just present at mass, you are answering the call to be a man of faith.
These are a few of our many strides:
-Over 35 active Knights on campus
Initiated 11 Knights (own First Degree Team)
7 Brothers received their Second Degree (Joint Degree Team)
4 Brothers reached full Knighthood in the Third Degree
3 Brothers received their Fourth Degree in the Fall
-Made our volunteering first initiative the Refugee Assistance Program
-Musicians at CCM & Liturgical ministers
-Volunteered with the Harrisonburg Pregnancy Center's fundraiser
-Lead a weekly rosary
-Held a White Ribbon Campaign
-Hosted a Fat Tuesday Dinner for the Campus community
-Executed a Council Brotherhood Retreat, featured in Columbia magazine
-Sent brothers to the Diocese of Richmond's Vocations Retreat
-8 Brothers participated in the annual March for Life
We have become a profound and visible support to the Catholic culture at JMU! I am proud to be a part of such an extensive brotherhood and been amazed by the bonds formed through our Christ-centered lives. I hope you take some time to explore all that we can offer a Catholic man seeking a deeper involvement with his faith. Or for our alumni, catch up on what has been happening since graduation.
