Research Interests

My interests are derived from my experiences involved in conservation and restoration work.  I am particularly intrigued in exploring questions of conservation genetics with regards to metapopulation dynamics as it relates to conservation and restoration strategies in the Chicago region.  My focal interest is in plants.  I am interested at quantifying gene flow, dispersal patterns, and conservation genetics of geographically fragmented species.  My species of interest is Clintonia borealis.

I am also fond of non-well-behaved species, such as heterotrophic plants (i.e. insectivores, mycoheterotrophs, and obligate and hemi- parasitic plants).
