Photos of the resort by Shaun Morrissey
The resort lies on top of a rocky bluff directly on the ocean (no road in between). It has a large pool, 2 hot tubs, poolside bar/grill, rental kiosk for snorkels, masks, etc.; fitness room, concierge/activities desk, and an 11-level Koi pond. The buildings are 2- to 4-stories and all have elevators. With one or two exceptions, the units are all 2 bedrooms and are approximately 1100 square feet, with 2 bathrooms, full kitchen with regular sized kitchen appliances, washer/dryer, walk-in closet in the master bedroom, private master bath with soaking tub and separate oversized shower, and balcony with table/chairs. You can see more photos and floor plans at the official resort web page.
Large sea turtles live in the cove in front of the resort, and whales swim past in the winter.Shipwreck Beach is a short stroll away, in front of the fantastic Grand Hyatt resort. I enjoy the brunch at the Hyatt's Illima Terrace Restaurant, attending the Hyatt Luau, and listening to jazz in the evenings at their Stevenson's lounge. Sitting on the Seaview Terrace sipping mai tais during sunset and the torch lighting ceremony isn't bad, either.
Besides the Grand Hyatt’s amenities, the resort is also within walking distance of Poipu Beach and several additional restaurants. A sidewalk running through the greenbelt of the Poipu Kai resort borders the Point at Poipu property, meaning it’s possible to walk through the neighboring resort to Poipu Beach without worrying about car traffic.
