Welcome to the Woodward Lab!

We are a research group in the department of Microbiology interested in host microbe interactions.  Research in the laboratory utilizes Listeria monocytogenes as a model intracellular bacterial pathogen to define the molecular determinants of infection and immunity.  We utilize multidisciplinary approaches in chemistry, biochemistry, bacterial genetics, tissue culture and in vivo infection models to elucidate the mechanisms that allow bacteria to cause disease and the host response to this infectious insult.
