My current research focuses on employee mobility and how it is related to firm performance, entrepreneurship, and employee earnings, using German and U.S. employer-employee linked datasets. My job market paper studies the impact of worker quits on future establishment growth, exploring how the impact varies by worker characteristics and establishment characteristics that reflect the difficulty in replacing a quitting worker. In another working paper, I study how dismissal of workers, as the firm's managerial practice to try out different workers, is related to worker-firm match quality and growth of small firms. Another working paper of mine examines the impact of non-compete enforceability on worker mobility and earnings throughout the workers' employment history.
