The Music of Sæmundr

Matt 25 37-40"Then those 'sheep' are going to say, 'Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you a drink? And when did we ever see you sick or in prison and come to you?' Then the King will say, 'I'm telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me.' (Msg)

May 1, 2008 - Back to Recording.

I have a few projects that are in the works. First, over at GuitarNoise  a few of us have decided to have a "Virtual Battle of the Bands". Basically what will happen is that we will team up into group from all over the world and collaborate with each other to create a song that can be either original or a cover. We will then record all the parts and put them together and see which project sounds the best.

Secondly, I have been working on creating an EP of sorts. My first thought was to have a full length virtual CD. However, with the recent move I am not as set up as I used to be and I think I am going to only record four or five songs. So what's up with that project now? Well, I have been trying to get all the tools together. I believe I am going to go with Reaper, GuitarPro, and something called Addictive Drums. I have already chosen the five songs that I would like to record. They are:

  • Ain't No Sunshine
  • She Talks to Angels
  • Sometimes Salvation
  • Hey Joe
  • Stormy Monday

May 1, 2008 - ¿Who is Sæmundr?

This gets a little confusing so bear with me. As I stated on the introdution page, many years ago I was involved in quite a few online games. One of those games was Everquest and I, sometimes, went by the name Geoo. My wife, at the time, went by Geaa and so I think it was a cute take off of that.

So when I began playing guitar a few years ago, I was frequenting a website named GuitarNoise and needed a nickname.  The folks at GuitarNoise began to get to know me as Geoo.

At the same time I was also involved in the Society for Creative Anachronism, or SCA.  You've seen the iron clad warriors with wooden sticks beating the crud out of each other in the local park.  They look like something that fell out of the middle ages.  Yep, I was a part of that and I existed in Ansteorra in the Barony of Namron.  I needed an Icelandic name as that was the persona I was trying to create.  After much reseach I came up with the name Sæmundr (In the USA we would pronouce it like "Simon").

Well, three years into guitar now and Geoo does not really fit the style of music that I write.  I write a folksy, country, or bluesy sound.  So, I have decided lately to refer to myself as Sæmundr once again.  Why can't I just use Jim?  Well, I could but that is awfully boring.  LOL
