Listen for "Jehovah-shalom"

     the LORD is Peace

Jehovah-shalom, the LORD is peace.

If you are like me, you need the Lord and His peace today.  He is our peace.  The only peace we will ever know that is real- that is consistent- that is lasting- is grown in us by Him.  True peace.  Fruit of the Spirit peace.

Do you ever wake up in the morning with something ‘not right’ stirring within you or about you?  I do.  Are you afraid?  In the world?  At work?  On the way to work?  At home?  At the doctor’s office?  Are you jobless?  Aging?  Sick?  Tired?  Sick of being sick and tired?  Are you afraid you will never move forward?  That you will remain stuck?  Are you feeling forsaken?  Abandoned?  Betrayed?  Insecure?  Are you afraid for your future?  That your friends and loved ones may reject you?  Have they?  Do you not fit in?  Do you continue to try new things only to find the same result?  Is your life out of control?  Or does it simply feel that way?  Are you sorrowing over your circumstances?  Lost hopes, dreams, health, welfare?  Are you stuck in a difficult marriage or employ?  Is your home situation wearing you thin?  Are you lonely?

One could go on… and on.

It is good to remember where we must fix our gaze, our attention.  When we trust Christ for salvation and then when we trust Christ with the totality of our lives- our lives, our being, and outcomes (make Him Lord- for He is Lord!)- we are able to keep a fixed gaze upon Him and like this He will keep us in perfect peace

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”  Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)

I find that when I take my eyes off of Him, I’m thrown into the abyss again- right back where I started.  Nothing seems right, not really.  And I sink and sin.

Are you afraid of the future?   In what ways?

Jehovah-shalom is the answer.

Are you afraid of the past?  Are you afraid you will never heal from what has been done to you that continues to manifest in pain and confusion and heartache?

Jehovah-shalom is the answer.

Are you afraid of the present?  What is going on in your home, in our country, in the world, or at work?  How about at church?

Jehovah-shalom is the answer.

The LORD Is Peace.

Does it seem like every time you start something to accomplish it, it gets ruined?  Destroyed?  So that you simply give up?  Even to the point you don’t want to face trying anymore and even get out of bed?  Do you feel so weary you feel (like they dubbed it in the movie, Mom’s Night Out) “stress-paralyzed?”

Yes?!  I know.

Do you fear yourself?  A stronghold?  An illness?  A relationship?  Or a relationship that has ended- like how you will go on when the remembrances strike you?  Of your failure, of their failure?

Get right with God and then have and enjoy His peace.

It is a supernatural peace that passes understanding and it can be yours and mine!

Here are some verses that Kay puts in the chapter about Jehovah-shalom.  Consider what each has to say about God, about peace and about you-in-Christ and peace:  Judges 6:22-24; Leviticus 26: 2-6; Numbers 6:22-27; Jeremiah 29:11; Isaiah 48: 18; Isaiah 26: 3; Psalm 119:165; Philippians 4:4-7; Philippians 4: 8-9; John 14:27.

Now, consider how we fare without Christ.  So, let’s walk with Him and experience something new: Him and His peace!  God, you are my peace.

Will you proclaim with me, “God, You are our peace?”  Okay,

“God, You are our peace!”

NOTE: That is how I am understanding this verse, anyway: Isaiah 26:3.  A big part of this is abiding in Christ- keeping Him center in life and front as our Lord- is trusting Him in all things.  In Him, we can know that He is at work in us both to will and to do for His good pleasure.  (Phil 2:13) God is grooming us, changing us to be more like Jesus.  When we abide in Him [I think it is where] even more faith grows and more change occurs in us.  He gives us faith and we use it when we trust; likewise, when we trust we gain more faith (because we see Him at work inside us and without).  When we stay rooted, grounded, abiding in the Vine more fruit grows.  The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

It’s best to stay “in Him” (living our faith by walking with Him in obedience and trust) so that the fruit will grow more readily.

Question of the day: Where is He leading?

Have a listen to my song, “For My Sake.”
Isaiah 1:18; Isaiah 43:25-26; Isaiah 44:22

"Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;
Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."
"I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake…"
"Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;
Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."
"I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake,

And will not remember thy sins."

Been wandering in the dark… a burdened, heavy heart,
But you have shed Your light, that all my sins will be white as snow.
And this captivity, this bondage holding me…
Well, You have claimed release, for captives just like me,
Now I can see.
"Put me in remembrance: let us plead together:
Declare thou, that thou mayest be justified."
"Put me in remembrance: let us plead together:
Declare thou, that thou mayest be justified."

"I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins…"

This merry-go-round and round—refusing to be found,
But you’ve been telling me I can be free…
And dealing with the past, the bitterness that lasts
Well, You have claimed release, through forgiving.
"…Return unto me;"
"Return unto me;
For I have redeemed thee."
"I have redeemed thee."
"I have redeemed thee."

My Church

I breathe, life
give me,
hovering o’er my deep…

In the beginning
You were there,
made flesh,
You’d come again to seek and save lost lambs
that You made
when You, God, made man
with Your hands from clay
and fashioned all his days…

Song of Songs,
He sings
over you,
His love,
words of truth
Song of songs…

but, you sing your own song,
clashing cymbals, noisy gongs, but, He’ll sing for you…

He gave you,
He still has for you
for your good and not your harm,
for your good and future...

but, you’ve been chasing wind,
dreams He never had for you, but, He’ll bring you back…

He left with you,
then you left Him
how He longs for your return
to His side, His bride,
~His church~
brethren, sister, spouse,
 of His house...

but, you have wandered far, foreign lands, a broken body-
would He ask,
"Where, have you been?, my love, my friend?  How I’ve longed for your return to My side, my bride,
~My church~
brethren, sister, spouse,
 of My house

Let the little children come to Me, the kingdom is for such as these. Let the little children come; don’t hold them back.
And you,
come back to Me again,
come back to Me again,
come back, I’ve called you friend-
My church."
