Bacon, mozzarella and basil pasta bake

Equipment: Large frying pan, large saucepan, oven-proof dish


11oz (315g) Cooking bacon, chopped

9oz (260g) Pasta shapes

400g Tin Whole tomatoes

7oz (200g) Mozzarella cheese, diced

2 tbsp (30ml) Fresh basil, torn

Black pepper

3oz (85g) Fresh Italian hard cheese, grated (I used Grana Padano)


1. Pre-heat the oven to 180°C.

2. In a large frying start to fry the bacon until it is coloured.

3. Meanwhile in a large saucepan cook the pasta according to the packet instructions.

4. Once the bacon has browned add the tomatoes and break them down in the pan.

5. Add the mozzarella, half the grated cheese, basil and black pepper. Bring to the boil then remove from the heat.

6. Once the pasta has cooked drain it and put in the oven-proof dish.

7. Pour over the sauce and then sprinkle on the remaining grated cheese.

8. Cook for 10 minutes until the cheese starts to bubble.
