DBF Competition

Johns Hopkins University
 AIAA Design, Build, Fly Team
Design,  Build, Fly (DBF) is an inter-university competition where students design, fabricate, and demonstrate the flight capabilities of an unmanned, electric powered, radio controlled (RC) airplane. DBF is sponsored by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), Raytheon Missile Systems, and Cessna Aircraft.  Website - www.aiaadbf.org

The JHU DBF team came in 26th out of 81 teams at the competition in Tucson this year (2013) despite propulsion issues! We are looking forward to an exciting next year and building upon the expertise that we have gained with this year's plane.

Email Alexander Spinos at aspinos1@jhu.edu to get involved or to receive DBF emails.
This past year's rules can be viewed at: http://www.aiaadbf.org/2013_files/2013_rules.htm. All interested students are encouraged to join us at our meetings! Our workshop location will be changing this summer.
The 2013 competition in Tucson, Arizona (photo above left) was a fun and successful (in several perhaps unconventional ways) trip, despite some propulsion system issues. Our airplane had one of the lower RACs (Rated Aircraft Cost) and the potential to carry nine internal stores.
