Bloomington Kennedy Cross Country Running

Welcome to Bloomington Kennedy Cross Country Running

Some Information About Our Team:

What Cross Country is:

Cross Country Running is a sport for fun-loving go getters. These people love to run. Some may do it to stay in shape for a different sport, or just to have something to do, but everyone who joins has a blast!

Meets:

During the season the team competes in one meet a week. Before school starts in August, athletes will work primarily on conditioning. As school starts the meets begin. All team members compete in the meets. Both boys and girls will run a 5k (3.1 miles) at meets. The races take place on various school grounds, athletic complexes and golf courses around the metro. Competitions continue through the conference meet where athletes try to earn All-Conference honors. The season is concluded with the Section Championship, and if any of our runners qualify there, we send them to the state meet.

Practice:

Practice Starts in mid-august, with captains practice starting one to two weeks before. Practice consists of tempo runs, interval training, abdominal workouts and hill workouts. These are all designed to increase stamina and strength. We even find the time to play games on easy days. During these everyone relaxes from our workload and plays games such as Ultimate Frisbee and Soccer.

Pasta Dinners:

The night before each meet all team members are invited to a designated house of someone on the team, and everyone proceeds to devour all pasta and bread in sight for free.
