In 1995, Dr. David Wishart, a Geography professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, published the book "An Unspeakable Sadness." The book is a history of the trials and tribulations of the Indians on reservations in the Territory and then the State of Nebraska.
William Daily was an Agent for the Otoe reservation from 1864 to 1866. Dr. Wishart describes him as a charlatan, incompetent, corrupt, and inefficient. Below is the page from the book where the charges are made. The following web page is a response to these totally unsupportable charges.
The second paragraph on this page of the book is what prompted the retort.
