Sunday December 4 from 9- 5:30 p.m. If you have not yet experienced this immersive celebration of Jewish learning and living, you are in for a real treat (as past attendees can attest).
The 2016 conference will feature more than seventy sessions on topics ranging from the theology of Reb Nachman of Breslov to gluten-free Jewish baking, “Bob Dylan’s Jewish blues” and Stalin’s relationship with Jewish intelligentsia – not to mention the myriad of musical performances and artistic displays scattered throughout the program and across the campus. There is something for everyone, including Camp Limmud, a special slate of programs (with dedicated counselors) that will keep attendees aged 13 and younger actively engaged while their parents participate in other sessions.
For more information or to join our delegation (which will arrange transportation and allow you to register at reduced cost), please contact Rabbi Rachel Safman or the Congregation Beth El office (860-442-0418) or visit the Limmud-Boston website (www.limmudboston.org).
One of the greatest experiments in Jewish learning is coming to our area. Building on the success of last year’s pilot, the JFEC is arranging for a delegation from Eastern CT to attend the 2014 Limmud-Boston conference at the reduced rate of $46/participant (including a kosher lunch).
Limmud-Boston is a dynamic, multi-faceted Jewish learning experience that combines text study classes, political discussions and lectures by Jewish notables with opportunities to practice Jewish yoga, create unique pieces of Judaica, produce (or simply enjoy) Jewish music and screen Jewish films. The program is strictly non-denominational and there are activities for people of all ages (in fact, the on-site Camp Limmud provides activities for kids aged 3-13, while their parents attend other sessions).
This year Limmud-Boston will take place on the campus of Congregation Mishkan Tefila in Chestnut Hill, MA on Sunday, December 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Federation will be arranging round-trip van transportation from New London at a cost of $10/person (subject to space availability). The van(s) will leave at 6:45 a.m. sharp from the Federation, 28 Channing Street in New London and return at approximately 7:00 p.m.
Please share this information with members of your community and ask those who are interested in participating to send the attached registration form to the Federation with payment by Monday, December 1.
We are looking forward to sharing a fun and exciting day of learning!
Rachel Safman Jerry Fischer
Rabbi, Congregation Beth El Executive Director, Jewish Federation of Eastern CT
