I'm Jerrod, currently a PhD student in the Department of Agricultural Economics at the University of Kentucky.
My areas are environmental and nonmarket valuation as well as improving stated preference approaches. My master's thesis was on water and recreational quality Oahu beaches in Hawaii. I have also worked on valuation of horseback riding trails, internet food marketing, opinions of Agricultural Economics Graduate Students, urban entomological economics (bed bugs in particular), and renewable electricity generation through human workouts.
Teaching: I recently finished teaching two courses in the Department of Agricultural, Environmental and Development Economics at The Ohio State University; AEDE-4106 Strategic Management with over 50 students, and AEDE-3102 Agricultural Marketing with 100 students. At UK, I have tought AEC-300-002, A Competitive Edge to Ag Economics for two semesters and in Spring 2014, I tought Economic Perspectives on Current Environmental Issues. I also have co-taught AEC-580, a consulting project class in Spring 2011-2014.
I am currently a member of the University of Kentucky Student Sustainability Council, past student representative of the President's Sustainability Advisory Committee, and past President of the Agricultural Economics Graduate Student Organization. I most enjoy being the coach of the UK Ag Economics Quiz Bowl team and leading individual undergraduate research projects!
