What is Counselling?

People generally come to counselling if they are feeling the need to talk through any difficulties they are having. These can include problems in relationships, traumatic events, mental health issues and bereavement or just because they need to work something through. Counselling is for everybody and it gives people the space and time to talk through whatever difficulties or worries that they are experiencing.

My approach

My counselling approach focuses on the here and now and also links in with the past and past experiences. The sessions are client led and the you will have full autonomy over what you want to talk about. This approach works towards self development and also identifies any patterns of behaviour or obstacles that are stopping you from moving forward.

I can offer a safe non judgmental, confidential space where you will feel safe and secure and comfortable enough to share any concerns or issues that are affecting your emotional well being and personal development.

On our initial assessment session we will discuss the therapeutic models of counselling, how I work and what you think will be the best way of working for you. We will discuss what it is you want to get out of the sessions and what you want to achieve. I fully believe that the counsellor/client relationship is key to therapeutic change so its really important that you feel comfortable whilst we are working together.
