Why sing?

As human beings the voice is our primary communication tool. The singing voice develops
naturally alongside the spoken voice right from birth, as, from our very first cry we explore and develop pitch range, loudness and softness, rhythmic intensity and most crucially, emotional communication. Our instincts to sing are made all the more enjoyable when we sing together.

Singing is a multi-sensory experience which channels so many different skills, and for the developing child it can have the following positive benefits:
  • promote self-confidence
  • nurture a sense of belonging and teamwork
  • unlock creativity and expression
  • improve aural and performance skills
  • develop physical understanding

Perhaps most importantly, though, singing together is really good fun!
