Week of February 4, 2013

 

We did not master all of our tasks last week. This is the week that we will use to tie up loose ends. To accomplish our goals this week you will have to do the following:

 

Ø  Complete our study of the History of Banking

Ø  Discuss the Case Study

Ø  Learn about the Federal Reserve districts

Ø  Finish the presentations on the bankers

Ø  Learn about Ben Bernanke

Ø  Participate in the weekly current events

Ø  Do the homework required to accomplish our goals

 

If you do all of these tasks then we will have met our goals. We will review these goals at the end of the week to see if we have met them. If we have not then, we as a group will decide what adjustments we need to make. If you have any questions or comments please let me know.

Week of January 28, 2013

 

We are about to begin our first full week of Personal Finance. Last week we mastered all of our tasks. This week we are going to begin learning about the American Banking system. To accomplish our goals this week you are going to have to do the following:

 

·        Look up the history of banking

·        Answer the questions about banking

·        Participate in the group discussion about banking

·        Identify the prominent leaders of the banking industry

·        Participate in the weekly current events

·        Do the homework required to accomplish our goals

 

If you do all of these tasks then we will have met our goals. We will review these goals at the end of the week to see if we have met them. If we have not then, we as a group will decide what adjustments we need to make. If you have any questions or comments please let me know.

Week of January 23, 2013

 

Welcome to Personal Finance! This is the second year that this course has been offered. Your input on the topics is going to be very important. Your feedback will help shape the course for the following year. Each week you will receive a “Looking Forward” that will list the tasks and activities that you are to master. Each week you will be able to access this information on my webpage on the schools web site. To accomplish our goals this week you will have to do the following:

 

·         Define  personal finance

·         Define financial literacy

·         Define your financial goals

·         Review the Case Study

·         Participate in the weekly current event

·         Do the homework required to accomplish our goals

Week of May 7, 2012

 

We have many tasks to master this week. We are going to finish our unit on insurance with your presentations. We shall take a look at Consumer Awareness. To accomplish our goals you will have to do the following:

 

·         Finish your insurance report

·         Do your insurance presentation to the class

·         Complete the Essential Questions and vocabulary

·         Look at the packet on Consumer Awareness

·         Participate in the weekly current events

·         Do the homework required to accomplish our goals

 

If you do all of these tasks then we will have met our goals. We will review these goals at the end of the week to see if we have met them. If we have not; then we as a group will decide what adjustments we need to make. If you have any questions or comments please let me know.

Week of April 30, 2012

 

Welcome back! We are on the downhill run! Before we finish the school year we have many tasks to master. This week we are going to continue our work on budgeting. To accomplish our goals this week you will have to do the following:

 

·         Complete the packet on budgeting

·         Set up your “graduation budget”

·         Review the vocabulary on budgeting

·         Complete the math problems on budgeting and cash flows

·         Participate in the weekly current events

·         Do the homework necessary to accomplish our  goals

 

If you do all of these tasks then we will have met our goals. We will review these goals at the end of the week to see if we have met them. If we have not; then we as a group will decide what adjustments we need to make. If you have any questions or comments please let me know.

Week of April 2, 2012

 

We have had ambitious plans for the past two weeks. We need to finish our tasks this week. Last Friday the group decided to address the consumer questions this week. To accomplish our goals this week you will have to do the following:

 

·         Bit, Stevie and Gus report on your government agencies

·         Learn to set goals

·         Learn to make decisions

·         Complete the “Trade Center” discussion

·         Work on the consumer questions

·         Participate in the weekly current events

·         Do the homework required to accomplish our goals

 

If you do all of these tasks then we will have met our goals. We will review these goals at the end of the week to see if we have met them. If we have not; then we as a group will decide what adjustments we need to make. If you have any questions or comments please let me know.

We did not complete our unit on credit. This week we will try to complete the unit. To accomplish our goals this week you will have to do the following:

 

·         Share the information on your consumer agency

·         Review the vocabulary

·         Participate in the question and answer session

·         Work on the “Must Do’s”

·         Review your stock portfolio

·         Participate in the weekly current events

·         Do the homework required to accomplish our goals

·         Name three signals of a recession

·         Describe fiscal policy

·         Describe monetary policy

·         Read the business section of the Wall Street Journal

·         Participate in the stock market game

·         Participate in the weekly current events

·         Research media oligopolies and write a report about them

·         Do the homework required to accomplish our goals

Week of February 27, 2012

 

Welcome Back! We have spent the last three weeks learning about the history of banking. This week we are going to begin learning about the role of government in our society. We will learn about how our choices determine how money is distributed. To accomplish our goals this week you will have to do the following:

 

ü  Complete the Essential Questions for this week

ü  Complete at least one of the extra projects

ü  Define scarcity

ü  Participate in the Stock Market Game

ü  Participate in the weekly current events

ü  Finish the movie review

ü  Do the homework required to accomplish our goals

 

If you do all of these tasks then we will have met our goals. We will review these goals at the end of the week to see if we have met them. If we have not; then we as a group will decide what adjustments we need to make. If you have any questions or comments please let me know.
