When we tried to acquired high resolution MRI data from ex vivo samples using our 3T Siemens Trio scanner, we had problems in the image reconstruction step because the system ran out of memory. A way around this problem is to use multi-slab acquisition, but this technique introduces slab boundary artifacts (SBA). Since SBA interplays heavily with the bias field artifact, we put together some Matlab code that corrects both artifacts simultaneously.
