Jeff Hiley is a highly respected educator, conductor, performer, clinician, and adjudicator based in Calgary, Alberta. Known for his musical versatility and energetic leadership, Jeff has built a distinguished career working with ensembles of all levels, both at home and abroad.
Jeff currently serves as the Band Director at West Island College, following a 21-year tenure with the Calgary Board of Education, where he taught and mentored thousands of young musicians. He holds a Bachelor of Music (Jazz Studies/Secondary Education) from the University of Calgary in partnership with Jacksonville State University (Alabama), as well as a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary.
As a performer and educator, Jeff has traveled extensively, bringing his passion for music to international stages and classrooms. His performance highlights include appearances at the Montreal Jazz Festival and multiple European tours with a variety of ensembles.
Jeff has contributed to several cornerstone arts organizations in Calgary, serving on the staff of the WestWinds Music Society, the Calgary Stampede Showband, and the Central Memorial High School Music Department. He is also frequently invited as a guest conductor and director with community ensembles across the city, sharing his expertise in ensemble development, musicianship, and music education.
