NHS Requirements and Membership

Jefferson's National Honor Society invites incoming junior and senior students whose cumulative GPA is 3.667 or higher to apply for membership.  Candidates submit an application that outlines their leadership, service, and character, in addition to having teachers rate their impressions of students based on the four pillars of NHS, and tutoring abilities.

Our Induction of New Members ceremony is held in the spring, and elections for the next year's officers soon after that in May.  In the next school year, NHS members have the opportunity to work on school-wide committees such as School Spirit, Variety Show, or Motivational Mondays, and are required to complete 30 hours of service, one service project and Academic Seminar tutoring as part of NHS's requirements for graduation as a member.  We are a group of high-achievers, academically speaking, but focused on what we can give back to the community around us, highlighting the NHS pillar of Service first and foremost.
