About Program

The GT Ambassador (GTA) program was created by the Jefferson County Association for Gifted Children (JAGC) to help organize and support parent involvement in children’s education. The GTA program evolved in collaboration with Jeffco Public School's GT staff to focus on topics of importance to our members, at members’ requests.  It can be difficult navigating through the GT world and Ambassadors can help those who are just getting started to avoid common pitfalls.

Volunteering as a GT Ambassador offers a means to develop strong family-school partnerships and involve the community. The process can be tailored to each school and GTA according to motivation and availability. A GT Ambassador's process for building successful partnerships and programs usually consists of raising awareness, taking positive action to cultivate involvement and celebrating successes as you see the impact.

The number one reason to become involved is to benefit your child, your school and/or your community. But there are many more GTA advantages:

  • Get Connected. There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school.
  • Discover Great Resources. Being a GTA offers additional access to GT information, opportunities and people.
  • Tap into a Network. JAGC Ambassadors enjoy more opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, building rapport and discussing issues that are on your mind. You can share ideas, concerns, and experiences.
  • Watch Yourself Grow. By volunteering, you put your skills and hobbies to use for a noble cause—your child and all children in the community.
  • Politely Speak Up. Being an Ambassador can be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at your child’s school.
  • Witness Improvement. By getting involved at your child’s school you’ll be part of the solution, helping make positive changes.
  • Be a Role ModelBy becoming an Ambassador, you’ll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education.

But.....I don't have time!!
This is an understandable concern and we don't want anyone to feel overwhelmed.  First, you don't have to be an 'expert'.  An easy-to-use Online Training is available that you can do anytime.  Second, one of the main functions of a GTA is to get GT information (which we will provide to you) to members of the community (schools, newsletters, websites, Friday Folders, etc.)  Third, you can always 'share the role' with others in your school or articulation area.  Please contact the Ambassador Coordinator if you are concerned about the time commitment.
