Holocaust

posted Oct 17, 2011, 10:31 AM by Kyle Weller

I thought I already knew a lot of stuff about the Holocaust but this website opened my eyes even more. For example, I learned that all radio stations in germany were syncornized to control what the public heard and didnt hear. I thought this link was very good at giving you information and making it seem like you were there. I know it was just like a website but it almost felt like I was in a muesum with all the pictures and information given.
I learned how propaganda was used to worpe the minds of the public in germany. It made them think what Hitler wanted them to think. They used poster and songs to saw how the jews were bad  and how great germany was. I am very glad I got to look through this site

Pepsi Assembly

I liked how the pepsi assembly related to us. It used clips of recent movies and showed music videos of current songs. When I saw all the videos it made me feel like they understood me because I had heard and saw those songs and movies in the last year. That made me more interested in the video and enabled me to really hear what the pepsi video had to say. I feel like I learned more because of all those current videos. If the Pepsi Assembly didnt have all those videos I dont think I would of paid attention. It wouldnt of been very attractive for me.

9/11 Video Response

posted Sep 16, 2011, 10:47 AM by Kyle Weller

When we first started watching the video, I was just in shock. It felt like I was there with the people. I felt what they felt and what they were going through. I knew for those people it was a time of confusion, disbelief, anger, and so much more.  I thought about how some of the people we were watching in the video were now dead. I thought about the loved ones that are no longer with us.
After you hear about so much 9/11 stuff and after 10 years, its not that you stop caring but its kinda like you stop noticing all the stuff as much. When I watched this video it brought me right back into realitly. I saw how much this attack hurt those not only in New York, but it hurt those family members all over the world. I can not imagine what it must of been like to be there in New York while this was happening. I dont know what my reaction would of been. Part of me thinks I would of ran but another part of me thinks I would of just stood in shock.

Honoring Sept. 11, With Care

posted Sep 12, 2011, 10:28 AM by Kyle Weller

I think it is ridiculous that businesses are trying to make money off of 9/11. It was a tragic event that happened to us. I don't think we should be trying to exploit people and make money off of them. A lot of businesses do this though. For example, all those pink ribbons you put on the back of your car. Is it really people trying to raise awareness of Cancer, or is it people just trying to make money.
I don't think this should be allowed. I know you cant make it a law or anything, but I wish the public would start an uproar about this.  If the businesses knew they couldn't get away with this then they would hopefully stop doing it. If the public would stop giving into these schemes then maybe the businesses would see how wrong it is.

Chapter 1 Highlights

I did not relies how in depth Mass Communication was. It starts from the beggining with Oral Communication and The Print Revolution all the way up through TV and the Internet. I am suprized that there were so many steps to get to where we are now. For example there is Electronic Era, Digital Era, Media Convergence, Media Businesses in a Converged World, The Evolution of a New Mass Medium. It is amazing how there is all these things to lead up to the techolongoly we are presently at.
Something like the internet will be never-ending. It will conutiue to grow and develope. New things like Facebook, Myspace, Blogging sites, Email, and news sites have just appered in the recent years. It is now getting where you can find anything on the Internet. Paper is becoming more and more oboslet. Even class work is becoming more computer involved. For example, this class, Media Lit, doesnt even have a text book. Close to all the work is done on a computer. It is amazing how this technologly is changing our lives.

Blogging Concerns

posted Sep 12, 2011, 9:11 AM by Kyle Weller

Blogging has been used to bully kids, discuss parties and alchol, talk bad about teachers, etc. All three of these concerns are legitimate. Cyber bullying can lead to teen suicides, teenagers should not be talking about parties they have went or parties they are going to be attanding, and it is not right to talk bad about teachers. Sometimes comments could lead to death threats or extremmly harsh words. Students should keep in mind that it is not right to talk bad about others because words can hurt.
Also, once you post something on the internet anybody can read it and it will be on the internet forever even if you try to delete it. Nobody should post something mean about other classmates or teachers and do not post something you wouldn't want your parents to see. That means do not post anything inapporate
