Propaganda

posted Oct 17, 2011, 10:28 AM by Jake McNamara

I thought that this was a good website. This website made imformation alot easier to find because it was interactive. It had alot of good imformation in that i didn't know about. It defined propaganda as a biased information designed to shape public opinion and behavior. I think that propaganda has much more importance today than it used to. With the media getting more and more popular it makes it easier to spread propaganda to people all over the world. Before seeing this website I had an idea of what propaganda was but i didn't know how to define it. This website helped me understand it and it showed me how it played such a big part in WWII.

PEPSI Assembly

I thought this year the PEPSI assembly was stupid and pointless. I don't remember the assembly because it was boring and the host was a loser. The first year they ever did the PEPSI assembly was great. They had really good stories because it was about sad, but real stuff. Every year they make it more flashy but they lose the factor that reaches out to people and makes them think. Instead of being about drinking, murder, car accidents, etc. its about people who a have such low self confidence they end their one and only life on what someone said on facebook. Stuff that comes out like this shouldnt be trying to change people it should try to just make us think. I also think that they should edit it with cool stuff it doesnt have to be about todays pop culture.

video response

The 9/11 documentary showed me what it was really like to be in Manhatten when the twin towers got hit. It made me think what would i have done if i was there when that happen. I couldn't imagine how scary it must have been for all the civillians that were living there, and all the lives that were lost. I think that it people with cameras did a great thing by capturing the moment. They put themselves at huge risk to capture that historical event. 9/11 should forever be remembered in America. While I was watching the video my jaw literally dropped at the sight of plane hitting the tower. Its scary to think that they were able to do something like that to us without us not knowing anything about it. That documentary was a very good movie and alot more people should see it.

911 memorial

I think that since it is the ten year anniversery for 9/11 it is a good idea to have a rememberance. I think they tried to do too much though. I think that having it last three days and being televised made it seem too commercial. They should have dedicated sunday only to it and had Obama's speech telivised. I thought that the wine that was sold was a plot to use 9/11 to sell their product. I think every year 9/11 should be remembered but i don't think it should ever be exploited like it was this weekend.

In chapter one it made me realized how much technologically has changed over the past years and how it has bettered our lives. In chapter one it goes into depth about all the values and important things that technology gives us. I think that without technology we would have a hard time with research and discovering about the new things, and everything would be harder and take longer to do.

bloggin responsibly

I think blogging online is a bad thing.  There are many dangers that can occur when you put a blog on a website.  One thing is that people can get offended.  In the article they say that three students sent death threats to a teacher.  Another case was a girl put her idiotic rascist opinion and offended many kids at her school.  I know that everyone has free speech but a lot of bad things could have happened to her for saying something so stupid.  There is always multiple freaks in the world that have access to blogs.  If you post something about your address, where you are hanging out tonight, or what school  you go to thats just telling a pedofile where they can find you.  All of these things are legitimate reasons why blogging is dangerous because you are putting your own opinion/information for anyone to judge or see.  Things that students should pay attention to while they are blogging is put no personel imformation about themselves or other, say anything that would offend other people, or blog on something that you don't understand.  A couple rules that the class should use is to not put any personal information about themselves or others and no offensive language.
