Holocaust Tour

posted Oct 17, 2011, 8:51 AM by Grace Gollon

This museum is a Holocaust Propaganda Museum.  I think its pretty cool and interesting.  I looked at the Gallery and there was tons of information on the holocaust and propaganda. After looking at those I clicked on artifacts, and it took me awhile to try to find actually pieces of work, but I eventually did, and when I examine the art more I noticed there were captions underneath then to give some information.  I enjoyed the website very much.

Pepsi

posted Oct 17, 2011, 8:45 AM by Grace Gollon

After many years I was slightly disappointed in this years assembly.  Maybe its because the first time I watched it, the video was extremely intense and ever since then I never think the Pepsi videos are as good as the first one I saw.

This year was pretty decent though.  I know the topics and situations they discussed in the video kind of hit home, and made some upset.  Other people were effected by the video also, and I think the video helped them make better decisions.

Even though the Pepsi videos are very intense and heart wrenching, some people feat. in the video were slightly cheesey.  Like that girl talking about her ex boyfriend and how she hurts when he texts her?  Its like umm? okay dont text back? And that guy that was talking about the gangs sounded slightly fake, but besides that I thought the video was decent, and I hope they inprove next year.  Even though I will not be veiwing it.

Tech. Stuff

Yes, very hard, because I litterally used technolgy for EVERYTHING. Including my hair. I have to text and call people.  I would get so broed without any type of technology, and very scared, because I am afraid of the dark, and withour lights, I would be very upset.

Of course stuff will keep advancing and advancing, because thats what the world does people come up with new ideas.

We should not cut back..that would a horrible idea.  We need to keep advancing to keep up with other countries and also to create more jobs, and stuff like that.

Watching the 9 11 video brought back a lot of memories of ten years ago when I was in 2nd grade, and It still upsets me to this day.
I really like they way this video was put together and how it made you feel like you were right there in the event.  It was very real feeling.
The video greatly effected me and for the past week Ive been thinking about that video, and how scared all those people probably were.

Reaction to Survey

From what I saw on the survey is that alot of older people didnt use the internet as much as the younger people around my age or younger.  The older people either got their information from television or newspaper.  I know my parents dont get alot of information from internet since they don't use the social networking sites or go online more than once or twice a month.  Me and my age group on the other hand are always on the internet chilling on facebook, or just searching the web, and sometimes I think that makes younger people more informed with culture and what happening in the world.
More than any other source people of every age said televison was their main source of information source so younger people and older peple have that in common which I can believe, becasue alot of kids watch TV with their parents, or at least I do anyway, but any way from the looks of it televsion and internet were the two big sources of information.

Blog Responsibly

Kids always go on the internet and express their feelings and just chat away with strangers without thinking of the consequences first.  From these readings its tell about children and some situations were they will put up personal information, bully others, or talk to people they shouldn't talk to.  It can be very risky having children blog and go on these social network cites without someone telling them the dangers of giving out all this information.
Some things older students, teaches, and parents can do is talk to their kids and give them advice and information about why and how they can prevent these things from happening, so these children don't get in trouble with the wrong people and situations.  Be smart and Blog safe.

Mass Communication

posted Aug 29, 2011, 6:42 AM by Grace Gollon   [ updated Aug 29, 2011, 7:07 AM ]

When you see mass media and communication written down on paper it basically hits the nail on the head.  Our whole world and culture is connected through the media and mass communication. Since before I was born technology and media have been around and I cant picture a world without it, but of course I find it all to be a good thing, because with out the media our world would not be able to know what was going so quickly and with such efficiency.

The culture skycrapper is basically a diagram of pieces of work that are concidered high culture and low culture.  After examining the sky scraper I felt like a hill billy, because almost all my favorite shows are concidered low culture, except for CNN, and that wasn't even that high up there.  I guess the works in high culture are things you have to be born into for instist ballet and hamlet, becasue I know noone that is interest in Hamlet.  All in all I think that maybe they should give certain shows a chance to be high culture like Lady Gaga orWheel of fortune.

The critical process of media of interesting, but I also found it confusing.  I had no idea there was a process like this, but it makes some sense, because I mean someone has to decide what is good, bad, or mediocre media.  I don't know if I would be able to do that, because I would take favor over certain shows and such. If it was up to me Lady Gaga would be at the top of the sky scraper. =]
