No lawn will be 100% weed-free, all the time.
Thousands of weed seeds lie dormant in the soil waiting for the right opportunity to start growing. New seeds settle in the soil all the time, being blown in either by the wind,
or carried in by birds or other animals.

Aeration

Aeration-Can your lawn breathe?
Lawn aeration is the secret weapon in making your lawn healthy. Soil compaction is a common problem in turf.  When soil becomes tightly packed, air and water are unable to reach the roots.  This can lead to a shallow root system and ultimately a poor quality lawn, susceptible to many types of pests and diseases.  Relieving soil compaction with deep core aeration annually is recommended and will enable your turf to flourish.  Our core aeration machines remove half inch plugs loosening the soil allowing water and air to penetrate further into the root zone.  Spring and/or fall are the recommended times for core aeration.  Services such as thatching are also available upon request.

By aerating your lawn you provide the following benefits to your lawn and its root system:
  • Improves fertilizer and nutrient intake
  • Reduces watering costs
  • Stimulates deep root development
  • Improves Soil Structure
  • Promotes air exchange between soil and atmosphere
  • Reduces and controls thatch
  • Reduces soil compaction
  • Reduces water runoff
  • Helps defend your lawn against drought, insects, disease, and weeds
  • Promotes a thicker, healthier & greener lawn

Turf Maintenance

Proper mowing practices are necessary to keep any lawn healthy and attractive. Standard St. Augustine grass should be maintained at a height of 4 – 5 inches. Repeatedly mowing at lower heights increases the stress on the lawn, discourages deep rooting, increases the chance for scalping.  Mowing too infrequently and watering improperly can cause a thatch buildup.
